After the record breaking March, April may have appeared to be a let down weather wise. I was actually surprised by how many conversations I had in which people were talking about how the weather turned cold and wet during the month. Yet, April not only finished with above average temperatures, the month ranked as the 13th warmest since 1881.
The average temperature in April was 48.1 degrees which is 3.9 degrees above the current 30-year average. You may remember that the warmest April on record was set just two years ago in 2010 with an average temperature of 51.6 degrees. 1.10 inches of rain fell last month which is 0.26 inches below average.
Previous to last month 9 out of the 10 warmest Marches on record had an accumulating snow event in April. This year just a few flurries were recorded on April 9 meaning that March 8 will likely be last accumulating snow event of this season.
