Through the first 27 days of September the average temperature in Fargo Moorhead was running about one degree below average for the month.  But the three consecutive days with high temperatures in the middle 80s increased the average temperature in September by slightly more than one degree, so in the end September finished 0.2 degrees above the current 30 year average.  The average temperature last month was 59.3 degrees.  It was the second straight month that the average monthly temperature finished near average.

The coldest temperature last month was a 25 degree reading on September 23.  That was the coldest September morning since 2003.  The 0.12 inches of rain recorded at Hector Int’l was the lowest rainfall total for the month on record and was 2.45 inches below average for the month. The period from May 1 through August 31 was only the 32nd driest on record, but with virtually no rain last month, the May through September period ranked as the 14th driest.
